CFSN Regional Gathering: North Valley Invigorates Farm to School

The North Valley Region of the California Farm to School Network is comprised mainly of small, rural school districts.  Our regional gathering has been focusing on creating community between the nutrition services teams from these districts via a day of connection, education, and celebration of their work. Last year we had teams from four districts demonstrate scratch cooking recipes, and then we all sat down and shared them for lunch.

School food around the world: in photos!

When’s the last time the topic of school food made it onto popular social-sharing website Buzzfeed?

We’re not sure, but the site’s recent post featuring photos of school lunches from twenty different countries provides those of us working in school food some interesting comparisons. From other industrialized countries to Third World nations, the photos allow us a glimpse into how other nations feed their youth at lunchtime.
