Schools learning to cook from scratch

Some local school districts plan to shed the stigma of cafeteria food by revamping their menus and offering a variety of healthier fare in the coming school year, while others are taking it a step further by ditching packaged foods and reviving cooking from scratch. <br/> <br/> State education officials are working closely with school districts like Ventura Unified and Santa Cruz City Schools that are already using the “Farm to School” model and adding scratch cooking to their daily cafeteria menus.
