The farm to school program at Fort Bragg schools includes organic school gardens at each of the main school locations, two of which are now providing produce for the school cafeterias. The other gardens grow produce used in classrooms for taste tests, composting and waste management, in-class nutrition, health and agriculture education, cooking demonstrations and farm tours. The district gives purchasing preference of produce, dairy and eggs from distributors who source from local farmers whenever possible for the school meal programs.
