Inner City Kitchen

My name is Crystal Blanchette, Chef and Founder of Inner City Kitchen in Los Angeles County California. Currently with the collaboration of the Los Angeles inner city YMCA (Inglewood, Crenshaw, Palmdale, Lancaster) Farm to School, Boys and Girls Club, and AV Youth Build, I have been fortunate to begin an after school cooking and nutrition program that focuses on providing information and demonstration of healthy meals to youth and young adults. Inner City Kitchen is looking to create a better foundation for a healthy and productive life in youth all over the county. “Discover You Through Food” is Inner City Kitchen’s motto used to create understanding and development of what we put into our bodies and how it affects our everyday living. Inner City Kitchen is an organization formulated to alleviate the perception that “healthy isn’t an option”. Inner City Kitchen services provide youth with the history of culinary cuisine, nutrition awareness, and agricultural studies; therefore creating the necessary foundation for proper food preparation, which administers a successful and healthy lifestyle. Through this process, the students enrolled within this program will begin to discover themselves through food. I believe that with your help Inner City Kitchen can work together in helping youth and young adults improve their self-esteem and inspire for a healthy future.
