Earthroots Field School offers weekly Afterschool Garden Ecology programs on public school campuses in Orange County, CA. These hands-on gardening classes engage children with all aspects of organic and sustainable gardening. Topics include soil building, rainwater harvesting, composting, planting, tending, harvesting, seed saving and eating what we grow. We work with teachers, parents and school administrators to create viable school gardens that incorporate lunch waste composting, consultations on weaving state standard curriculum into the garden and more. We currently offer weekly classes at the Journey School in Aliso Viejo and Tustin Memorial Academy in Tustin, CA. In addition to the afterschool programs, Earthroots offers extracurricular hands-on classes, year round, for toddlers, homeschoolers, teens, adults, private and public schools and summer camps. Outdoor “classrooms” include local organic farms, gardens, wilderness areas, kitchens, national parks, beaches, creeks and more. and food producers.
